Music Summary Essay Example For Students

Music Summary Essay The reading allow the reader to establish an understanding to how big of an issue was created by Just words. It is clear, thought the many things that occurred from teen magazine covers, record running, revoked memberships, and stock dips, that John Lemons word made a huge impact on how The Battles were seen. Later we are shown how although he did apologize the religious far-right have not forgiven. Still many like David Nobel, are not Just unforgiving but also anti-Battles, being that Sullivan states he conducted a twenty-one day lecture tour of California, warning of the evils of the Battles (314) In all showing us that the main things here is that through John Lemons words, from then on, The Battles began to be considered as an evil that young individuals should why away from due to the likeliness that the communist could use them to manipulate the minds of all these young individuals to begin mass revolution. Further reading allows for now to know that Nobel, did not fancy The Battles in any way at all. His belief or his approval to the idea that the Battles are potential tools of a communist takeover of the United States. However whether this is a willing action or an unwilling on is something which many seem to disagree on. Nonetheless while the Battles may be entwined with this belief, it also applies to rock in roll in general. Stating that through a study it was shown that the young individuals into he society are being both tampered and exploited. This is supported in the reading through one quote that states Rock and roll has a direct bearing on delinquency since all delinquents are emotionally insecure; (Nobel, AAA, footnote 139, p. 25) ( Sullivan 31 5) However, it can be debated through an argument presented in the reading if it is right to say that they Battles are evil only because a few words. The reading itself gives insight in saying that in all the true evil was rock and roll, and hat the Battles themselves Just posed as a great example for Nobel to use for his Anti-rock and roll beliefs. John Lennox provided these individuals with Just what they needed ignored to fight again rock and roll. The main argument that is displayed in the reading to me is Since the Battles are gods to millions of teenagers today, if drugs are in (or considered in) by the Battles, they will be considered in by the teenagers. For like it or not, whatever the teenagers gods sanction the teens have a tendency to sanction. (Sullivan 317) In all connecting that the Battles can cause for Music Summary 3 By Nor-Solaces in the reading, is said to explore the idea that the Battles (maybe in all rock and roll) can cause a revolution, a social revolution. In which the fact that they can influence the doing of sex and drugs that that itself allows for communist to triumph. N the reading to further the argument that rock and roll in general is the problem we are presented with Bob Larson he in all, from the reading attest, is concerned with the anti-Christian aspect of rock and roll. However still a focus on the Battles, because it is stated, The Battles may have been only temporarily more popular than Jesus, but it was long enough to alter the music and morals of the Western world. (Sullivan 319) nonetheless, this allows for the reader to understand how much of an impact both Larson and Nobel seem to thin the Batt les were in their argued dilemma. .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa , .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .postImageUrl , .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa , .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa:hover , .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa:visited , .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa:active { border:0!important; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa:active , .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u7b271393d5876296ba0bb5caf7388eaa:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Is music a good tool for health? EssayIt seen to be that Sullivan is attempting to show us how Nobel focused on John Lennox and what he said being the evil he want to keep from young people. From the NY things he published it is clear that his hatred in all was focused both on the Battles themselves and rock and roll because he believed rock and roll entirely was corrupt, while there are others whom simply believe that this music can be cleaned and made better. However, this was then, now many of those apologists now argue that the rock they once loved and danced to themselves, is nothing like the rock now. This itself can be supported by where the text states, has changed from the swinging of Elvis hips and saying, l want you, I need you, I love you, to people like Blackleg Lawless going around in his codpiece with a chainsaw between his legs singing, l F-U-C-K like a beast. (Berry 1985). (Sullivan 321) In all, many had different views, or ways of handling this dilemma of theirs, for they each poses a different idea/view on what time they want the world to become to. Overall, The reading leaves the reader questioning if the Battles truly put a generation of our people into the drug culture and if there was a detrimental effect of the Battles (Sullivan 323) Offering many views on the impact, whether good or bad, the Battles made on the nuns population and whether it can be connected to both communism and evil. Through Nobel, Larson, and the MARC, we are offered many cases of individuals who believe the Battles to be evil all thanks to the word of John Lennox, The Battles > Jesus, and believe them to be able to corrupt the minds of the youth in America, in all causing them to turn to drugs and sex in all causing a mass social revolution that they see being led by the communist. I affirm that I have neither given nor received assistance from another student while preparing this summary.

The War On Masculinity And Femininity Essays - Gender Studies

The War on Masculinity and Femininity Growing up we were always told we could be and do anything we wanted to. We were taught that we could do anything the opposite sex could do and more. We didn't feel limited to our gender, but we were taught that there are differences between boys and girls that we cannot control. We cannot deny that our genders separate us from one another. Since Adam and Eve, males and females have been different, not only physically but psychologically and socially. The differences between males and females are differences that will always exists, no matter what the current trend may be or what is or isn't politically correct. There are traditional roles of males and females that we cannot escape, just as men will never be able to bear children, women will never be able to use the bathroom standing up. In the essay, ?The Male Myth?, Paul Theroux states, ?I have always disliked being a man. The whole idea of manhood in America is pitiful, a little like having to wear an ill-fitting coat for one's entire life? (700). Theroux rejects his own manhood because of the restrains he believes that society has placed on him. He believes that masculinity and femininity are ?a hideous and crippling lie... very destructive... emotionally damaging and socially harmful? (700). He seems to think that being a man entails one to ?be stupid, be unfeeling, obedient and soldierly, and [to] stop thinking? (700). To him all females are ?sexually indispensable, socially decorative and always alert to a man's sense of inadequacy? (700). Theroux unjustly believes that society should be ungendered and unsexed. Theroux makes many unfounded statements, generalizing all males and females to fit their stereotypes. He generalizes anything with masculinity or femininity as bad and evil, believing that traditional roles in society should be rejected. What Theroux does not realize is that gender is something that can not be avoided or hidden. In most cases men do not act like a stereotypical macho, abusive, and power hungry male, and not every female acts as the subservient, self conscious woman. Today in our society many males and females are switching roles, breaking away from their stereotypes. For example, many women have entered the work force and some are even bringing in a larger percentage of the household income. Many men are also choosing to stay home with the children, becoming what many call a house husband. Theroux continues to argue that such institutions as high school athletics have created the concept of manliness and the degeneration of the gender. According to Theroux, Everyone is aware of how few in number are the athletes who behave like gentlemen. Just as high school basketball teaches you how to be a poor loser, the manly attitude toward sports seems to be little more than a recipe for creating bad marriages, social misfits, moral degenerates, sadists, latent rapists and just plain louts (701). Theroux generalizes every male in his statement of athletics. He again uses stereotypes about athletes as a whole. He goes beyond the stereotype and turns everything to do with maleness and sports into something evil. He resents and disdains sports stating, ?I regard high school sports as a drug far worse than marijuana? (701). High school athletics have been a great outlet and haven for many, including males and females. As a high school athlete, one learns the concept of team work, how to win and loss with grace and composure, and helps them obtain increased self confidence. Theroux's statement applies to very few males' experience with athletics. Theroux doesn't recognize the positives of sports and doesn't seem to speak from much personal experience. In regards to his feelings of sports growing up Theroux states, ?Growing up, I had thought of sports as wasteful and humiliating, and the idea of manliness as a bore? (701). Although he is a man, he continues to rejects everything that has to do with maleness. Another argument Theroux has on masculinity is that men in the creative arts have been alienated. He states, ?All the creative arts are obnoxious to the manly ideal, because at their best the arts are pursued by uncompetitive and essentially solitary people? (701). He continues by stating, ?For many years I found it impossible to admit to myself that I wanted to be a writer. It was my guilty secret, because being a writer was incompatible with being a man? (701). He believes

America Civilization essays

America Civilization essays Upon the Europeans discovery and colonization of the Americas an irreversible transformation was triggered. The extreme differences in the cultures of the Europeans and Native Americans would prove to be fatal to the way of life that existed before European colonization. It appears that the majority of the actions of the Native Americans towards the new European colonists were in peace and acceptance. Unfortunately the colonists dreams conflicted with the views of the Native Americans. The free living philosophy of the Native Americans left them open to an unexpected overtaking by the colonists. The Europeans believed in making a new world out of America while completely disregarding the fact that there was already an Old World. The English learned quite a bit about survival in the New World from the Native Americans. They were taught how to construct and use nets for catching fish. Also they were taught how to construct canoes, a great method of transportation and hunting. The Native Americans showed them their ways of agriculture which were far superior to the methods of the English. In the 1580s the English settlers feared the Native Americans because the land was new and unknown to them. They did not understand the ways of the Native Americans and feared them. From the settlers perspective they needed to claim and posses land in order to feel safe. Many English settlers had read articles about the Native Americans prior to there journey to the Americas. The French and Spanish had portrayed the Native Americans as Indians. Christopher Columbus wrote that the Native Arawak Indians he encountered as loving people without covetousness. Others early explorers also wrote of the Native Americans friendliness and helpfulness. These images sat well with the expectations of the English, who were originally interested in trading with t...

The Residency Application Process

The Residency Application Process In the residency application process, the personal essay plays a tremendous role. As a resident in a hospital, you will no longer be attending medical school classes but actually working as a doctor with live patients. That being said, residency directors want to know as much about your personal beliefs and character as they do your education. The most important part of any residency essay, in my opinion, is the first paragraph. Considering that the admissions committee have hundreds if not thousands of applications to read, you definitely want to make your stand out. The best way to do this is to open your essay with something interesting. There are several ways you can make the first paragraph of your residency essay stand out. One way is to begin with an interesting anecdote or quote. Another is to state your thesis boldly and creatively. Just make sure that whatever you do, it relates directly to the overall theme of your main idea. The residency application process isnt easy, but if you do it well the pay off is more than worth the effort! For more information about finding a residency program and/or if you would like help in writing your AMCAS personal statement, please dont hesitate to access the link provided.

EMBA 560 Executive position week 2 discussion 2 Essay

EMBA 560 Executive position week 2 discussion 2 - Essay Example He or she must be articulate, a good communicator particularly in face-to-face meetings with clients, a fundamental understanding of medical devices and equipment, and an affinity for the challenges of working in sales and marketing. Half of the job of being a good marketing professional is earning the trust and confidence of the client, so it is a vital requirement that the candidate for my position is honest and sincere, has a genuine affinity for people (that is, he or she should not have issues about not wanting to be among strangers), and could inspire a genuine trust in people. Things like these could not be faked. At the same time, my replacement should be forward looking and self-motivated, because marketing requires seeking out those who would benefit most from our products and bringing these products to them. It requires innovative thinking, because the obvious prospects are always already served. Creativity is needed to seek out potential customers, to approach them in a m anner that does not immediately alienate them even before you get to speak, and to find out what their needs are and match these needs with the product you sell, so that everyone comes out at an advantage. Finally, I will look for a sense of perseverance and fortitude. Marketing is both physically and mentally challenging work, so the successful candidate should be up to the task. 2.Consider the hypothetical situation in question #1.   What are the pros and cons of hiring someone exactly like you? While I was writing out the answer to the first question, I was wondering whether I fit the bill myself in the manner I set the attributes down. I realized that these are the qualifications that I would like to have, or that I would like to think I possess but do not actually. It is the best of what I want to be and what I think the position demanded. There are dangers to finding someone exactly like oneself, because there never is one. No two persons, not even twins, are exactly alike, and making oneself the role model for finding a replacement makes one almost doomed to fail. Then he would have to â€Å"settle† for someone a little bit less in his estimation (because nobody ever measures up to the ideal picture we have of ourselves), and this becomes a poor basis for beginning a working relationship, particularly between a supervisor and his subordinate. Another thing about finding someone like me to take over my place perpetuates the weaknesses that I had, at worse, and at best not have anything new to add to the position. There is a distinct advantage in hiring someone not like myself, in that they bring something new to the plate. New is always good, it is at least change, and after sometime the innovation would be adjusted to fit the job, enhancing its advantages while minimizing the disadvantages. Hiring someone for my old position who is exactly like me is a constraint on the new worker, if he knew that I hired him for that purpose. His tendency, as with all other subordinates, is to meet the expectations of his superior (myself), so he will try to do everything like me and think, what would my boss do if he were in my place? But this attitude does not foster growth, it does not free up the individual for the many initiative and ideas he may have for the job. Therefore, it were better that in choosing a replacement, I should not look for someone who was like me, for that reason.

Mass production for ordinary consumers (Thesis- I believe that mass Essay

Mass production for ordinary consumers (Thesis- I believe that mass production of food by companies for consumers are putting the life of individual at risk - Essay Example ney and guarantees stability of quality but I believe that mass production of food by companies for consumers are putting the life of individual at risk. Most obviously mass production of food was reasonable and necessary at the times of industrialization when many people were moving from villages to cities. It helped to provide all classes of population with cheap food of a decent quality because it was made under uniformed conditions. However, as a result all local production has become less and less profitable and local cuisine has ceased to exist (Local Shops 1). In all the regions of the United states people can buy Domino`s pizza with the same taste and eat McDonald`s cheeseburgers. Moreover, in all the countries of the world it is possible to buy Coca–Cola and Lay`s and be sure that their taste is absolutely familiar. Supermarkets took places of small bakeries and vegetable stores turning people into robots who do not differentiate between a chicken from a neighborhood farm and a chicken from a big factory. It makes people less aware of what they are eating and it influences their health. As food giants tend to sell as many products as possible they need to save money on ingredients. It is no wonder that food made on factories and prepared in fast food restaurant chains is not expensive and good looking. First, it mostly contains fats, sodium, and sugar that are harmful for health. Moreover, there is a necessity to guarantee that almost all food will be sold that is why food giants make everything possible to extend the shelf life of the products. A number of additives are supposed to make food look more appealing. However, such ingredients as olestra, aspartame, artificial colors and flavors, monosodium glutamate, saccharin, sodium nitrate, sulfites, cyclamate, caffeine, BHA, BHT and acesulfame-potassium, are not natural and can evoke allergic reaction (Bruso 1). Mass production and fast food industry are considered to be the primary reasons of

Causes of American Divorce Essay Example for Free

Causes of American Divorce Essay For the last decade, the issue of American divorce has increased dramatically. A significant change in economical, psychological and emotional mind set could be the explanation of why so many American are ending their relationship in divorce. Issues such as, not having enough financial stability, lack of communication and lack of commitment, in other words infidelity, could provide an explanation to society of why divorce has increased throughout the years. The first cause of divorce may be because of not having enough financial stability from one of the spouses or both. The quote, â€Å"Money is the root of all evil,† may be true, especially when it comes to American marriages. Although, instead, the quote should say â€Å"Money is the root to all reasons marriages fail.† Money may not be the only reason it fails but could be one of the reasons. An example of this could be, if a spouse is paying for necessity based things, such as, bills and food and the other spends too much on things that are useless, this could become a problem, especially when children are involved. Most married couples tend to forget that when they say their marriage vows, there is an important line that pertains to money and that is, â€Å"Til debt do us part.† Relationships sometimes begin and the spouse may not know the financial difficulties one may be having. This could cause a problem when the couples try to buy a house or a car. Frustration could come upon them and eventually end the marriage due to the arguments. However, financial problems might n ot be the only cause of divorce. The second cause of American marriages ending in divorce could be, lack of communication. Most couples tend to stay fairly busy with work or college and don’t get a large amount of time to talk about issues one may be facing with the other, for fear that an argument may happen. However, not talking about the issues could become a problem. For example, the spouse may do something the other doesn’t like and if it keeps happening, the petty problem could cause an outrage to spark and since they were unable to solve the problem before because of lack of communication it could lead to the marriage possibly failing. The quote, â€Å"Love is communication, so the bottom line is; a lack of communication is a lack of love,† could be true for most marriages because not talking could cause separation between the spouses. The third cause of American divorce could be lack of commitment or infidelity. Infidelity is the act of unfaithfulness to a person. This could be the number one cause of marriage failure. For example, a spouse may not be into the sexual arousal game as the other spouse is. This could then lead to the spouse engaging in sexual activity with someone other than the person they married to. Sexual desire is not the only form of infidelity. Lust may be consider as adultery as well. A spouse may begin to have fantasies of being with someone else or an intense desire of love toward a person. To conclude, the three possible reasons American marriages fail could be because of financial issues, lack of communication and lack of commitment or infidelity. The numbers are becoming dramatically alarming. To stop this problem from happening marriages should build their relationship on a strong foundation and beware of rushing into things before talking about. Communication should be an important matter in any relationship.
